life
"let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom." -- marcel proust

about this world with hope

dharma transmission
"there are causes for all human suffering, and there is a way by which they may be ended, because everything in the world is the result of a vast concurrence of causes and conditions, and everything disappears as these causes and conditions change and pass away. rain falls, winds blow, plants bloom, leaves mature and are blown away. these phenomena are all interrelated with causes and conditions, and are brought about by them, and disappear as the causes and conditions change." -- a teaching of the buddha

never go right
"in the fell clutch of circumstance i have not winced nor cried aloud. under the bludgeonings of chance my head is bloody, but unbowed." -- excerpt from 'invictus', william ernest henley (1849-1903)

raise your fist
"hasta la victoria siempre!" -- ernesto 'che' guevara

current projects

software that i have been working on or maintaining which hasn't been categorized as "throw away".

electronics projects i have been working on. lots of radio-related projects, simple test equipment, modifications to existing gear and just plain insanity. some of the things i build are my own bad designs, some stuff is from other people's designs, some from kits. the latter are usually qrp transcievers or other receiver/transmitter related devices.

visualizations of various things including the reimann zeta function, the distribution of goldbach pairs, hailstone numbers, and prime numbers in two-dimensional space. the latter is an attempt to find interesting graphs of prime numbers that make up words when linked together using a nearest neighbor search. i figure, if they can make stuff up like "the bible code" i can make stuff up with prime numbers. heh.

astronomy is something i recently became interested in. i've spent a lot of time looking at the sky lately, and sometimes i even attempt to take pictures of what i see. they aren't very good, but hopefully that will change as i learn more.

about me

random
post-punk freaky alternahacker obsessed with various things that won't neccessarily get me anything other than cuts and bruises. currently working as an independent security consulant and programmer-for-hire.

music
punk rock, electronica, industrial, hip hop, classical, urban, latin, jazz, blues, folk, metal, noise, the loud banging sounds of my head hitting solid surfaces. basically anything audible, i'll listen to it. except right-wing talk show hosts. personally, i wish they'd just shut up. i used to front the punk/industrial band killing floor, and am currently working on a project called pinko74.

interests
programming: c, perl, python, asm, assorted bits of lua, scheme, lingo, and other random stuff. electronics: rf circuits and basic electronic hackery. radio communications: hf, vhf, uhf, microwave, ssb, am, fm, cw, digital. mathematics: mostly visualization of various things related to number theory. comic books: pretty much only 2000 AD at this point. reading: science fiction, math, history, technical.

stupid stuff
microsoft word is not a document exchange format. bit scrambling in wireless data communications protocols is for data integrity and is not a security mechanism. that being said, wireless data communications are insecure. stop believing what you read. usability? motherfucker was hard to write, motherfucker is gonna be hard to use. sometimes people send me hate mail. oh well.
